Standing on good shoulders.

Atlas ADE is a small kit. Much of what makes it pleasant to fly comes from open-source projects other people built and gave away. This page thanks them.

Orca

Orca is the cockpit we recommend flying ADE from. In Orca mode, ADE mirrors each lane into Orca as a worktree with a live terminal, so every card in flight is visible side by side, and Orca's mobile app tells you when one needs you. ADE drives Orca through its command line and does not include any of its code, but Orca shaped how ADE looks from the pilot's seat, and we are grateful for it. Orca is open source under the MIT licence. If you like the way ADE flies there, go and say thanks to them too.

In the download

Each portable download carries its own runtime so it installs nothing on your system. Every archive includes THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt with the full licence texts; this is the short version.

  • Python: CPython 3.13, under the PSF License version 2.
  • The portable Python build: python-build-standalone, maintained by Astral, under the Mozilla Public License 2.0.
  • Libraries built into that Python, each under its own licence (each platform uses a subset): OpenSSL (Apache-2.0), SQLite (public domain), zlib, bzip2, xz/liblzma, libffi (MIT), mpdecimal, expat (MIT), ncurses, libedit, libuuid, Tcl/Tk and Tix, Berkeley DB, and libX11, libXau and libxcb.
  • pip and the libraries it vendors, under the MIT licence and others.
  • git, Windows download only: MinGit from Git for Windows, under the GNU General Public License version 2. It bundles curl, OpenSSL, OpenSSH, PCRE2, zlib, zstd, libiconv, gettext, nghttp2, libssh2, Git Credential Manager (MIT) and others.

Source for MinGit. Git's source code is published next to every Windows download, and kit owners can download it from their account. For three years after we last ship a version, anyone may also ask us for that version's complete corresponding source, at no more than the cost of sending it: write to [email protected]. The upstream project is git-for-windows/git.

What ADE works with

ADE drives tools you install yourself and never ships them: Claude Code from Anthropic, Codex from OpenAI, and git. Each is covered by its own terms.
